| Jim Reynolds Played with New Breed Band 1968 | April - 11 - 2008
|
My name is James (Jim) D. Reynolds, I was in the Army it was 1968 and I was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA in the Army Band. One of the guys (James (Coop) Cooper) in the band played with Mr. Leon Austin and the New Breed Band and needed a trombone player.
Coop took me downtown and introduced me to Leon and all I can say at this point is WOW. I really got and an education, Leon was such a down to earth person and so willing to shear his musical knowledge. Still today I tell my friends about the time I was member of the New Breeds Band.
I will never forget our long road trips to get to the gigs. Leon knew some of us were away from home for the first time in or lives and he really looked out for us. Sometimes we would have all of us at his house; I will never forget his wiener stew it was so good.
Leon I just want to “Thank You” for what you shared with me and the entire band especially the military guys in the band.
Leon I wish you good health and continued success and may God continue to richly bless you.Jim Reynolds (Trombone player New Breed Band 1968)

I would personally like to thank leon for the countless times, he took the time to talk, inspire and encourage me to never give up on what i love, which was music.During the late eighties and early nineties. He did everything he could to help me achieve my dream from introductions to personally speaking on my behalf. The advice he gave me i use in everyday life till this very day. I could go on and on about the good things he personally did for me. If their was one word i could use to describe leon it would be LOYAL with capital letters. He never got the credit he deserved but that just a living testament to the man he is, he never cared about credit. He cared about people and i just want him to know that I love him and everytime i sing or rap, i carry him with me in my heart, thanks for everything leon. And god-willing i will make sure that no forget about The man behind the man, Mr. Leon "The Burner' Austin, your biggest fan micheal"Big dawg The hustler" wilkes.

| Karlton L. Howard Parade of Quartets | March - 25 - 2008
|
Leon Austin was an answer to the prayers of my father the late Henry L. Howard. Daddy had longed to have the Parade of Quartets have a more "churchy" sound especially during the Sunday morning time of prayer. The answer came in the person of Leon. For several years in the late 80's and 90's Leon would lugged his personal Hammond B3 organ to the television station and play for all groups that were singing that Sunday morning. He brought a new flavor of musical involvement to the Parade of Quartets.
He became an inseparable part of the program for all of those years. For those years we say "thank you Leon."
Karlton L. Howard
